Adding WorkItemTypes to MSF Process Guidance
WorkItemTypes is important part of the Process Template. The formal definition of the WorkItemTypes is: data that is collected for a work item by using fields and field rules, how that data is presented to a user by using a form, and the workflow that work item undergoes by using a state-transition model. We can add WorkItemTypes to our Process Template after creating one.
In order to add WorkItemTypes to Process Guidance we need to use XML editors like InfoPath. First, we edit WrokItems.xml file by adding our desired WorkItemTypes to Agile Process Guidnace with the help of template2.xsn file. If we are adding WorkItemType to the MFS for CMMI Process Improvement we need to open up file called RoselandWorkItems.xml.
After you opened file using InfoPath, you need to select Insert Menu Item, then choose Selection and then select ContentItem. In the Content Type field please specify WorkItem and in the Content Name type unique name for your WorkItem. You may also fillout description field that clarifies what this WorkItem is used for and then Save your changes.
